Job Description

Admissions Office Assistants help coordinate several projects in the office. Primary job responsibilities include:

  • Assembling mailings for prospective students
  • Managing other large scale mailing projects
  • Delivering items to the on campus post office
  • Stocking shelves and helping with publication inventory
  • Preparing folders to be used for our visit programs

Office Assistants also act as Ambassadors for Macalester by:

  • Greeting visitors in our lobby
  • Help prospective students during their campus visit 
  • Assist with our large prospective student visit programs
Job Requirements

The Admissions Office employees around 25 students, including entry level Office Assistants. All student employees serve as Ambassadors to Macalester and should be passionate about helping prospective students/families in a variety of ways with their college search process. 

 

Office Assistants need to be comfortable with a variety of projects, especially administrative based work. Skills should include:

  • Ability to work independently in a quiet environment
  • Ability to work as part of a team of students and staff members
  • Attention to detail and ability to maintain consistent high levels of standards
  • Comfortable with projects that require repetition
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Clear communication and the ability to ask questions when necessary
  • Strong sense of initiative and self-motivation
  • Work study is required for this position

Sick and Safe Time

  • Student employees accrue sick and safe time at an accrual rate of one hour for every 30 hours paid. 
  • Sick and safe time is not paid out upon departure.
