Job Description

French and Francophone Studies Department Teaching Assistant tasks include but are not limited to:

  • Provide support to professors and lab instructors
  • Facilitate small conversation and discussion groups
  • Correcting advanced level papers with keys
  • Tutoring
  • General office support and administrative duties such as photocopying, scanning, typing, using appropriate computer applications.
  • Pick up and deliver mail, Document Services projects, and other deliveries on campus
  • Interact politely and knowledgeably with walk-in visitors
  • Assists staff with preparation for special events, e.g., department sponsored workshops and conference, department gatherings, etc.
  • Perform general housekeeping tasks in the office area.

Job Requirements

Job Requirements

  • Must be self-motivated and responsible; work well with other people and also independently.
  • Advanced oral and written knowledge of the French Language, near-native quality.
  • Ability to use computer and knowledge of the following software programs, Microsoft Office - Word, Excel and PowerPoint, additionally, (preferred by not required) knowledge of Photoshop and Adobe Professional.
  • Knowledge of standard office procedures: filing, typing, copying, correspondence, faxing, scanning etc.
  • Good organizational skills.
  • Work hours are scheduled M-F between 8:00 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. and occasional weekend and evening work opportunity for department-sponsored events.
