Sociology office assistants play a vital role in helping the Sociology department function effectively. In addition to helping maintain a friendly and welcoming environment for the Macalester community, responsibilities include, but are not limited to: · Organizing course materials, including the preparation of copies and scans · Building the department’s PDF library · Processing book orders for library acquisitions, and assembling and formatting course readings for the library reserve desk · Conducting research for Sociology faculty or the Department Coordinator · Organizing and planning departmental events and student activities · Publicizing executing departmental events, curriculum, and achievements including updating the department’s bulletin boards, website, brochures, and other publications · Maintaining a tidy beverage area · Assisting with the department’s social media presence · Serving as receptionist when the Department Coordinator is out of the office |
