Job Description

The Department of Physics and Astronomy seeks Graders for the following upper division (300/400-level) Physics and Astronomy Courses in Fall 2026:  

  • PHYS-331 Modern Physics
  • PHYS-443 Electromagnetic Theory 1

Job functions, responsibilities include:

  1. Grade homework assignments for the course (Hours per week vary, depending on course enrollment, but ~4 hours/week on average).
  2. Set and meet deadlines agreeable to to pick up and drop off grading assignments.

 

Job Requirements

Please do not apply for this job unless you meet the following qualifications:

  1. It is expected that the applicant will have previously completed the course that they wish to grade for (or can demonstrate commensurate experience), but at a minimum candidates must have completed PHYS-331 with all prerequisite coursework, or equivalent coursework. Completion of any other upper division coursework in the major is a plus.
  2. Must be able to establish clear grading criteria and expectations between you and the faculty member teaching the course.
  3. Must be reliable and able to work independently.

Sick and Safe Time

  • Student employees accrue sick and safe time at an accrual rate of one hour for every 30 hours paid.
