Job Description

The student manager will be responsible for many aspects of the operations of the Art and Art History Department shops and studios. This person will also be responsible for safety monitoring and assisting with shop operations.

Duties include, but not limited to:

  • Monitoring safe use of tools and equipment

  • Helping with routine maintenance and organization of studio spaces and equipment  

  • Assisting with additional trainings and demos with staff and student users

  • Daily cleaning duties to ensure a safe working environment,

  • Reporting equipment problems or other issues to Art and Art History staff

  • Attend and observe safety traing courses

  • Using and maintaining the laser cutter 

  • An interest in learning about more advanced techniques and equipment

Job Requirements

This position requires that a student has an interest in three dimensional design or is planning on majoring or minoring in the Art and Art History Department.

They must have some experience with the Google Suite and previous customer service experience is helpful. Preference given to those with prior shop experience. 

  • Must be conscientious, organized and reliable

  • Must be able to work independently with minimal supervision

  • Must Be able to lift at least 25 pounds.

  • Must have experience with hand and power tools

  • Must be familiar with Word,Google,and Moodle 

  • Must be familiar with the Art Building and its programs.

  • Can follow assembly directions.

  • Work time is flexible. 5-13 hours per week

  • Student employees accrue sick and safe time at an accrual rate of one hour for every 30 hours paid.
