Job Description

We are looking for several people who would like to play a significant role in the logistics of Reunion 2024. This position will supplement trained Special Events students who support Alumni Reunion Weekend, the largest event at Macalester hosting more than 1500 alumni. This is a TEMPORARY position, lasting approximately from Monday, June 5 through Wednesday, June 12. 

This job will include, but is not limited to:

  • Assisting Special Events team in preparation, production, and wrap-up of Reunion activities
  • Assist in set-up for events: moving tables and chairs, preparing event supplies, creating and distributing centerpieces, delivering and retrieving supplies, etc. 
  • Instructing and taking instruction from other students on projects and events
  • Acting as a host for alumni of all ages in a cheerful and helpful manner
  • Miscellaneous duties to prepare for events as needed
  • Act as a host for alumni of all ages in a cheerful and helpful manner
  • Other miscellaneous duties as assigned
  • Meals provided during Reunion Weekend
  • Possibility of position in Special Events during the Academic year

Skills Needed

  • Ability to troubleshoot in high-pressure situations; crisis control
  • Detail-oriented, organized
  • Logistical thinking
  • Flexibility and ability to adapt to new situations, often on the fly
  • Ability to work in a team as well as independently
  • Ability to prioritize and stay on task
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Word (not required, but helpful)
  • Creativity (not required, but helpful)
  • Follow instructions. 
  • Other duties as assigned. 

Meals are supplied from Tuesday, June 4 - Sunday, June 9. 

 

Job Requirements
  • MUST be available all day into the evening on Reunion days: June 6th – June 9 (Shifts may exceed 8 hours on some these days into the evening)
  • Fewer hours needed from June 3 - 5. Specific hours to be determined based on event needs. 
  • Lifting/carrying tables, chairs, and supplies (20-30 pounds)
  • Standing more than 1-2 hours at a time
  • Familiarity with security and safety policies on campus
  • Cheerfully taking and following instruction from staff and student leaders
  • Desire to perform a thorough and complete assignment
  • Ability to follow instructions and follow through with instructions 
  • A US driving license is desired but not required (driving golf cars)
  • Flexible and adaptible.  Plans can change quickly as needs arise.
