Job Description	Description: The student employee will perform independent chemical research under the guidance of a specific Macalester Chemistry Professor. They will be expected to present the results of their research work in appropriate forums. The student will develop skills involving chemical research techniques, public speaking, scientific writing, and will grow in their ability to read and comprehend the chemical primary literature. Scheduling to be arranged with the Professor who will be supervising the work.
Job Requirements	Requirements: Successful completion of applicable coursework Competence with appropriate chemistry-related software and laboratory skills. An interest in chemical research Dedication and a willingness to persist when things don’t work out the first time Prior consent of supervising faculty is required. Students with WORK STUDY AWARDS preferred unless there is faculty approval.
Benefits	Sick and Safe Time Student employees accrue sick and safe time at an accrual rate of one hour for every 30 hours paid. Sick and safe time is not paid out upon departure. Review the full sick and safe time policy on the Student Employment website.
