Outreach and Engagement Assistant (OEA)

Category: Work Study preferred but not required

Department: Art & Art History—Law Warschaw Gallery

Supervisor: Heather Everhart, director and curator
Hours: 3-10 hours per week; essential workload will vary between lighter and heavier weeks based on the exhibition and event schedule.


Notes:

-       Only applicants with relevant, demonstrated experience will be considered for interviews, as the role requires a strong foundation in its responsibilities.

-       Applicants must also be able work consistently, including the weeks leading up to spring commencement. 

-       This position is for third and fourth year students. Second year students will be considered only with extensive demonstrated experience in a similar role.

 

Position Overview:

The Outreach and Engagement Assistant (OEA) supports the Law Warschaw Gallery’s campus and public-facing communications across digital platforms and campus channels. This position is for a student with previous professional or internship experience in communications, arts, or media—and who brings creative, strategic, and visually thoughtful approaches to social media and promotional content.


Under the direction of LWG staff, the OEA will help develop and manage content across platforms, prepare outreach materials, and ensure the gallery’s exhibitions and programs are visible to both campus and broader audiences. The student will work closely with the Heather Everhart and other LWG/Mac staff as appropriate, and will never be expected to make decisions without support. Monthly planning meetings will guide the work.

Job Requirements

Required Qualifications:

-       Verifiable prior employment or internship experience in communications, media, or the arts

-       Previous experience managing organizational social media or a professional-level personal account (such as those in performing arts or other creative practices with active use as a career-building tool )

-       Proficiency in editing photos and creating promotional graphics (e.g. fliers, posters, story templates)

-       Portfolio demonstrating proficiency with social media platforms, graphics, captions, short-form video, and/or campaign strategies

-       One-two writing samples (press release, blog post, caption writing, or similar)

-       Understanding of professional communication methods and related technologies
