Job Description

This position is for the period from September 8, 2026 to May 8, 2027.

The Macalester Fund's mission is to raise unrestricted funds to support the ongoing operations and programs of Macalester and to grow the number of donors who are ready to deepen their philanthropic commitment to the college. As a student working in the Macalester Fund, you are helping us build relationships with our community members and fundraise for Macalester.

In this position, you can expect to:

  • Assist with office tasks to support the Mac Fund team, including creating mailings, name tags, documents, and spreadsheets;

  • Write thank-you postcards and birthday cards;

  • Make phone calls to follow up on gifts;

  • Organize and assemble materials for events and meetings;

  • Answer the phone and monitor the Mac Fund email inbox and respond to or forward emails as appropriate;

  • Support Macalester Fund communication projects in collaboration with the Director of Engagement Communications;

  • Complete data entry, research, and other assigned projects;

  • Work frequently in an online database;

First-year students are eligible for this position. Work study is required for this position.

Job Requirements

  • Comfortable in communication with Macalester community members through phone calls and writing;

  • Detail oriented, thorough, and organized;

  • Dependable and responsive;

  • Able to work independently and ask questions when clarification is needed;

  • Able to maintain confidentiality, and to recognize and handle confidential information appropriately;

  • Good communication skills, and able to collaborate with others;

  • Courteous and professional in all interactions with constituents as well as campus and community partners;

  • Proactive and able to seek out project opportunities during slow periods;

  • General computer skills, including the ability to navigate software (training provided); experience with HTML or coding is a plus but not required; familiarity with creating basic documents and spreadsheets;

  • Able to lift up to 20 lbs.
