Job Description

The MCSG Media and Outreach Coordinator will serve a vital role in communicating MCSG-wide efforts to the student body. In addition, the coordinator will play a key role in developing and implementing a communications plan for MCSG, to be revised yearly. The coordinator must attend weekly Legislative Body meetings (Thursdays from 12-1pm) and Communications and Engagement Committee meetings (time TBD). The MCSG Media and Outreach Coordinator will be tasked with the following responsibilities:

  • Create communications material for MCSG (eg: brochures, fliers, and videos)

  • Maintain, coordinate, and sustain a strong MCSG presence on social media (eg: Instagram, TikTok)

  • Collaborate with MCSG’s Communications and Engagement Committee (CEC) and other departments (including Macalester Communications) to facilitate efficient implementation of MCSG’s communication efforts and attend weekly CEC meetings

  • Attend campus-wide events hosted by student organizations, academic and non-academic departments, and student groups and committees 

  • Attend weekly MCSG Legislative Body meetings on Thursdays (12-1pm)

  • Assist with the planning and execution of MCSG elections, events, and projects, and other initiatives and tasks as required

  • Follow ethical journalism and media production standards

 

Job Requirements

An ideal candidate for this position is excited to learn more about MCSG, broaden their knowledge about Macalester, work with members across class years, collaborate with campus communities, and put their experience in media and communications or related fields to use. The Media and Outreach Coordinator should be a self-starter who takes initiative to effectively communicate about events and MCSG with the Macalester community.   • Student employees accrue sick and safe time at an accrual rate of one hour for every 30 hours paid.
