Job Description

This position will work with a team of students to maintain the fast paced Idea Lab located on the 2nd floor of the library. The Idea Lab is part of the Entrepreneurship Department and is an open space for all students to enjoy whenever the library is open. This role will keep the space organized, clean, supplies stocked, and prepared for classes, events, and all visitors. Idea Lab Assistants work collaboratively with each other to maintain the space, set up for class visits and lead workshops. This person should be open-minded, detail-oriented, welcoming, self-motivated, and able to work independently as well as in a team setting. This role with provide administrative support to the Entrepreneurship Department staff as needed. They will also be required to work during Macathon, a campus wide event hosted by the department during a weekend in November. This active position would be perfect for someone interested in strengthening their communication and leadership skills, being a part of a close team of student employees, and who seeks out opportunities to improve spaces and leave them better than they found them.

 

Job Responsibilities:

  • Work study is required for this position.

  • Be an ambassador of the Idea Lab and Entrepreneurship

  • Engage with visitors to the Idea Lab and tell them about the space

  • Routine deep cleaning, organizing, and stocking supplies in the Idea Lab

  • Prepare the Idea Lab for class visits and events

  • Lead 2 workshops per semester that are open to all students

  • Attend all student staff meetings 

  • Support the needs of anyone in the Idea Lab (students, classes, events)

  • Support the Entrepreneurship Staff, programming, and events as needed

  • Actively move around the space engaging with visitors, cleaning, organizing, and restocking supplies

  • Extremely hardworking and reliable

  • An Courteous and welcoming to everyone

  • Willingness and drive to learn how to use all of the equipment in the Idea Lab

 

NOTE: Work study award splits/sharing with this position is rarely possible and must be approved

Sick and Safe Time

  • Student employees accrue sick and safe time at an accrual rate of one hour for every 30 hours paid. 
  • Sick and safe time is not paid out upon departure.
