Job Description

Are you creative? Do you enjoy organizing spaces? Are you a problem solver and a self starter? Do you enjoy working with your hands and creating unique works of art? Do you sew or do you have a unique perspective or specific skill you want to share with other students? We are looking for Idea Lab Assistants to keep the fast paced makerspace organized, clean, inviting, and prepared for classes and events. In this role you will work with other student staff to continually stock supplies, set up for class visits and assist with activities, classes, events, and individuals who visit the space. This person should be open-minded, detail-oriented, welcoming, self-motivated, and able to work independently as well as in a team setting.  

 

Additionally this position will provide administrative support to the Entrepreneurship Department Staff as needed for programming and the Macathon campus wide event in November.

Job Duties

  • Routine help cleaning, organizing, and stocking supplies in the Idea Lab

  • Prepare the Idea Lab for class visits and events

  • Host 2 workshops per semester

  • Attend all student staff meeting 

  • Support the needs of anyone in the Idea Lab (students, classes, events)

  • Support the Entrepreneurship Staff as needed

  • Support Entrepreneurship programming and events as needed

  • Become knowledgeable about the supplies and equipment in the Idea Lab

  • Additional duties as assigned

  • Be curious, hard working, and open minded

  • Not afraid to get messy/dirty

  • Be dependable and on time

  • Award sharing with other positions on campus is not possible

  • Ability to work Macathon weekend in November

  • Able to meet deadlines and follow instructions

  • Strong communication skills and attention to detail

  • Experience with CANVA, Instagram, and any media and design is a plus

  • Experience with sewing machines, spinning yarn, weaving, knitting, crochet, embroidery, power tools, vinyl cutters, Adobe Creative Cloud software, or Wordpress is a plus
