Job Description

CRSL student workers will specialize in one role specific to them while also being part of the team of students that help manage the space and operations of the CRSL. Each student worker will have responsibility for maintaining and monitoring all activity in the building such as greeting guests as they enter the building, answering the phone,  cleaning and sanitizing used spaces, managing incoming inquiries, and any other requests. Each student worker will also have a project of responsibility that they will work on while they are in this front desk role. 

 

The Chapel Building Managers will report directly to the CRSL Administrative Coordinator and work as a team to support the operations and activities of the Chapel and Center for Religious and Spiritual Life. 

 

All CRSL student workers are expected to be knowledgeable about the resources available through the CRSL and the specific offerings of the Chaplaincy. All students will receive professional development opportunities and be expected to participate in regular meetings and training.

 

 

Roles available: 

  • Outreach Coordinator

    • Skills/interests: social media, graphic design, photography

    • Responsibilities: create and post flyers, create social media posts, photograph events 

  • Multifaith Event Support

    • Skills/interests: interfaith dialogue, event planning, organization

    • Responsibilities: assist CRSL professional staff and student org leaders with event coordination

  • Newsletter editor

    • Skills/interest: copyediting, writing, reading, organizing volunteers

    • Responsibilities: Compile articles for and edit monthly newsletter

  • Hospitality Specialist 

    • Skills/interests: Nurturing spaces, building relationships

    • Responsibilities: Care for kitchen and lounge, earn and share with others (including student orgs) strategies for wide welcome

  • Community Builder 

    • Skills/interests: event planning, relationship building, cooking (optional) 

    • Responsibilities: create and host small events in CRSL that are meant to gather people; support for Chaplain Tea

  • Campus Partnerships 

    • Skills/interests: volunteer coordination, brainstorming/visioning for creative collaborations, communication

    • Responsibilities: serve as a liaison between CRSL and other offices/student organizations about common themes of interest, possible projects together; assist with collaborative events (like Touch Grass/Snow display in Spring 2026)

Qualifications and Expectations:

  • Work study is required for this position.

  • Be a visible face of welcome!  Professional etiquette is a must, as answering telephone, providing directions/orientation, responding to e-inquiries, and greeting visitors to the Center for Religious and Spiritual Life are all part of the job.

  • Willing to be part of a team. Student workers must be willing to share responsibilities and tasks during each shift.

  • Comfortable unlocking, turning on lights and securing the building during scheduled open hours.

  • Ability to do light cleaning and event setup. This includes sanitizing, kitchen cleanup, table and chair arrangement, and overseeing an orderly setup for the building.

  • Interest in cultivating or growing additional skills that connect to the assigned project.

  • Openness to receiving jobs as assigned.

 

Preferred Availability:

  • Priority will be given to applicants seeking to use their full award in this position

  • Successful applicants will have consistent availability during the afternoon and evening.

 

Benefits

Sick and Safe Time

  • Student employees accrue sick and safe time at an accrual rate of one hour for every 30 hours paid. 
  • Sick and safe time is not paid out upon departure.
