Job Description

Residential Life is hiring a Programming Assistant for the spring, 2022 semester. Training will start on January 21st and the role will begin on January 24th.

 

The Programming Assistant (PA) position is a part-time, student staff member of the Department of Residential Life. PAs are responsible for coordinating, marketing, implementing, and assessing social programming in the residence halls. PAs utilize various google suite platforms (email, calendar, forms, sheets, docs, etc.) to obtain and pass along information related to social programming. PAs will work with Resident Assistants (RAs) and professional staff to ensure that attendance and assessment of the learning strategies are tracked. Programming Assistants report directly to a Residence Hall Director.

 

Responsibilities

  • Track Community Learning Model (CLM) Learning Strategy assessment for the area

  • Collect and organize artifacts for both social and CLM programming including photos, reflections, themes, etc.

  • Work with Residential Life staff to coordinate social programming

  • Manage hall pages and events online through Presence software

  • Submit social intake requests for both social and CLM programming

  • Maintain communication with supervisor and Residential Life staff

  • Complete other programming projects as needed

Job Requirements

The ideal candidate will maintain full-time student status for the duration of employment and possess a grade point average of 2.7 or above at the time of application. Applicants should have previously lived in the residence halls and be in good standing with the college. Selected candidates must also receive clearance through a fingerprint check (provided by Employment Services) and consult with their supervisor in Residential Life regarding expectations and balance navigating an additional student employment position. Additionally, applicants with previous experience as an RA will be preferred.

This role will complete responsibilities similar to an Office Assistant and also will require availability from 8pm-10pm nights of the week, to assist with office coverage.

Additionally, this is a new position to Residential Life. Successful candidates are able to work with ambiguity while completing projects and tasks.
