Qualified candidates must demonstrate Portuguese language ability by passing PORT 341 (or an equivalent class) with a grade of B or better, testing out of Portuguese via Macalester's language placement exam, or speaking Portuguese fluently as a heritage or native speaker - Preferred candidates are sophomores, juniors or seniors
- First Years candidates should have experiences in Portuguese speaking countries or experiences in teaching or tutoring in other settings (i.e. study abroad, language spoken at home (heritage speaker), community work or volunteering, summer camps, etc.)
- Selected Tutors will need to attend the Department’s Orientation meetings that take place twice a year, in fall and spring
- Ability to work independently and take initiative
- Consistency, patience, reliability
- Friendly demeanor and positive attitude
- Computer skills
- Writing/editing ability
- Willingness to learn and accept responsibility
- Be open to feedback
- Punctuality
