Job Description

As the Macalester ITS Infrastructure Assistant, you will be responsible for providing support to the ITS department and broader organization. You will assist in the maintenance and administration of wireless and wired networks, manage new, exiting, and departing users in Zoom Phone, and provide technical support and troubleshoot issues for employees and students.
Job Requirements

Responsibilities:

  • Provide technical troubleshooting to Macalester employees with network hardware and software issues.
  • Assist in the installation and maintenance of hardware and software systems including wireless access points, network switches, and the corresponding software.
  • Troubleshoot network and system issues including fiber optic and cat5/6 cabling.
  • Zoom Phone onboarding and offboard for employees
  • Assist in the development and implementation of IT documentation and procedures in our Topdesk ticket system.
  • Ensure proper monitoring, backup, and security protocols are followed.

Requirements:

  • Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in IT or a related field.
  • Basic knowledge of computer hardware and software systems.
  • Strong problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to learn quickly and adapt to new technologies.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
  • Strong attention to detail.

Sick and Safe Time

  • Student employees accrue sick and safe time at an accrual rate of one hour for every 30 hours paid.
