Job Description

The Entrepreneurship & Innovation Department (E & I) is seeking one student staff for the 2025/2026 academic year to fill the role of E & I Program Assistant. 

 

The E & I Program Assistant should have an active interest in nurturing student ideas and a passion for fueling student innovation to bring about change. The role will support such efforts by working collaboratively with the Department to help run E & I programs efficiently and effectively. Interaction with E & I programs will include, but not be limited to, Macathon, Live-it Fund, Zia & Priti Fund for Innovation and Impact, MacNest, MacStartup, and relevant Idea Lab events and workshops. 

 

This is an ideal position for a self motivated, detail oriented, and creative student interested in leveraging and learning a wide variety of skills. Work will range from administrative support and event planning to developing and implementing dynamic student outreach and communication efforts. 

 

While working directly with the E & I Program Manager, the position will collaborate with the Idea Lab student staff, a team of roughly 15-18 student employees, and will attend and participate in regular student staff and leadership meetings.

 

Job Functions:

  • Prepare material for program promotion and promote on different platforms

  • Assist with student outreach, education, and recruitment

  • Attend campus events and promote programs

  • Assist with administrative duties

  • Assist with program events and event planning

  • Assist with additional duties as needed at E&I Dept.

Job Requirements
  • Required Qualifications: 

    • Work Study is required for this position

    • Comfort working independently and in groups

    • Proactive, self-starting nature

    • Awareness of personal areas of growth and leadership abilities

    • Strong written and oral communication skills

    • Organizational skills with attention to detail

    • Interest in and excitement around existing E & I Programs - past participation in E & I programs welcomed but not required

  • Commitments: 

    • Expected time commitment is roughly 7-10 hours per week - exact hours to adjust to based on award

    • Scheduled weekly meetings with E & I Program Manager

    • Attendance at weekly leadership and monthly all staff meetings with Idea Lab

    • Some evening / weekend hours in alignment with special events

    • Hours outside of scheduled meetings may be flexible

Sick and Safe Time

  • Student employees accrue sick and safe time at an accrual rate of one hour for every 30 hours paid. 
  • Sick and safe time is not paid out upon departure.
