Job Description

This position is for the period from September 3, 2024 to May 12, 2025.

Student Ambassadors are a group of dynamic student leaders who are selected to serve as representatives of Macalester. They are committed to promoting Macalester throughout our community, focusing on alumni outreach and engagement. Ambassadors will be trained in basic interpersonal and group communication skills, group facilitation skills, and leadership development. We will start the semester off with training to help you join our team.

This position is intended for juniors and seniors. Applicants with work-study awards will be given preference. This position fulfills about half of awork-study award making it an ideal complement to another job opportunity on campus for students seeking to split their award between two jobs.

Job Requirements
  • Comfortable communicating with Macalester community members through phone calls, and writing 

  • Positive attitude about the Macalester experience

  • Excellent communication skills

  • Consistency and reliability

  • Friendly and positive attitude

  • Commit to a minimum of 40 service hours per spring and fall semester

  • Complete a minimum of three interviews (face-to-face) per semester with Macalester alumni with a goal of strengthening the Macalester community. Partner with the Associate Director of Leadership Giving to prioritize alumni for interviews, and work with them on how to tailor the interview to the alum.

  • Active role as student advisory panel/focus group when feedback is needed (for example, related to the upcoming fundraising campaign, campus philanthropy initiatives, etc.)

  • Participation in campus events and activities as requested. (This could include participation on a student panel, event or activity coordinator, tour guide, etc.)

  • Promotion of Macalester and a commitment to supporting our community’s diversity and the values that are core to Macalester.
