Job Description

Are you looking for a rewarding opportunity to support your fellow students and gain valuable skills? Look no further! We're seeking enthusiastic and responsible individuals to join our team as Summer & Pre-Semester Assistants (SPSAs). As an SPSA, you'll play a vital role in ensuring smooth housing operations over the summer and during pre-semester activities.

Summer & Pre-Semester Assistants (SPSAs) are live-on student staff members who are responsible for supporting housing operations throughout the summer, starting in late May until returner move-in weekend. SPSAs will work about 20 hours per week. SPSAs will work with the Assistant Director for Residential Services (ADR) alongside the Residential Life Team.

During the summer, SPSAs will manage residential keys, assist residents with inquiries, manage the residential life inbox, and hold office hours in the summer residence hall (Dupre Hall.) SPSAs will help with Spring Closing, Summer Housing Move Over, Summer Closing, Pre-Semester Move-In, First Year Move-In, and Returning Student Move-In. SPSAs may also help with other administrative tasks from Residential Life. All SPSAs will live in Dupre in the Summer. All students (including SPSAs) will stay in their Spring ‘26 housing assignment until May 20th. Everyone living in Summer Housing will be assigned to Dupre Hall.

During Pre-Semester (August 12 - August 24) SPSAs will need to check students into their fall assignments, manage storage shifts, and ensure that spaces and keys are ready for fall move-in. Pre-Semester will be a very busy time for SPSAs and therefore is a time we do not encourage additional time away. SPSAs will also assist with first-year move-in on August 31 and returning move-in September 5 - September 7.

SPSAs will also be asked to do passive programming with Pre-Semester students. SPSAs will serve in the student on-call rotation until Resident Assistants have been trained in August. SPSAs will move into their Fall '26 assignments prior to pre-semester.

All SPSAs will have the ability to take time away from their role and are encouraged to work with the ADRS and Summer RHD on time away needs!
