Job Description

The Student Affairs Graphic Design & Social Media Assistant will play a key role in promoting student life, campus events, and Student Affairs initiatives through creative design and effective use of social media. This position offers the opportunity to apply graphic design skills in a dynamic, student-centered environment while engaging with the student body through social media platforms. The assistant will be responsible for creating visually appealing content and managing the Student Affairs social media presence, ensuring consistent branding and messaging. This position reports to the Planning and Implementation Manager for Student Affairs.

Job Requirements

Key Responsibilities:

  • Social Media Management:
    • Manage and update Student Affairs social media accounts (e.g., Instagram).
    • Develop and schedule regular posts to promote campus events, initiatives, and student services.
    • Engage with followers by responding to comments, messages, and direct inquiries.
    • Monitor social media trends to incorporate relevant content and increase engagement.
  • Graphic Design & Content Creation:
    • Design promotional materials such as event flyers, posters, and banners to visually communicate Student Affairs events and messages.
    • Create eye-catching graphics for social media posts, including Instagram stories, and event cover images.
    • Design logos and visual branding for Student Affairs programs, initiatives, and special events.
    • Ensure all design work aligns with Student Affairs' brand guidelines and institutional standards.
  • Collaboration & Communication:
    • Work closely with the Student Affairs team and Planning and Implementation Manager to gather information on upcoming events and key messaging.
    • Participate in brainstorming sessions to develop creative content ideas.
    • Assist in gathering feedback from the student body on social media campaigns and overall engagement strategies.
  • Additional Support:
    • Assist in the development of digital content for newsletters, websites, and other communication channels.
    • Contribute to the overall digital marketing strategy and improve the effectiveness of outreach efforts.
    • Attend periodic meetings to stay updated on upcoming events and priorities within Student Affairs.

Qualifications:

  • Proficiency in graphic design software (e.g., Canva, Adobe Creative Suite: Photoshop, Illustrator, Adobe Express).
  • Familiarity with social media platforms (primarily Instagram).
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Creative mindset with an eye for detail and design.
  • Ability to work independently, manage multiple tasks, and meet deadlines.
  • Previous experience in social media management or graphic design is a plus, but not required.
