The THDA Events Assistant works to facilitate smooth front of house operations at all public events, as a house manager, box office manager, or usher. This is a public-facing, customer service-oriented position that requires problem-solving skills and a welcoming demeanor. Hours are available during the intermittent weekends that shows are performed, approximately 3-4 times per semester. Specific duties include: House Manager: oversees the box office manager and ushers, facilitates communication with stage management team, problem solves complex issues, serves as main point of contact for patrons, prepares for and responds to emergencies as needed, maintains safe capacity and clear egress in compliance with fire safety codes, and stays for the entire show. Box Office: answers simple questions, hands out tickets, keeps track of the ticket spreadsheet, is friendly and welcoming, communicates accessibility requests to house manager and ushers Ushers: answers simple questions, leads patrons to and from their seats, ensures everyone has a ticket, assists patrons with accessibility requests, maintains safe capacity and egress as directed by house manager, supports the house manager and box office manager as needed.
