Job Description

Combined Student Position: Foundation Relations & Leadership Giving Student Ambassador
This combined position serves two offices within Macalester's Development Department: Foundation, Government and Corporate Relations (FGCR) and Leadership Giving. The student will split their time between foundation research/office support and alumni engagement activities as part of the Student Ambassador program. This is an excellent opportunity to gain comprehensive experience in higher education advancement while supporting Macalester's fundraising efforts.

Foundation Relations Component (50%)

  • Conduct foundation and grant prospect research

  • Maintain databases and complete data entry projects

  • Draft correspondence to funders

  • Support FGCR team members with office and project needs

  • Assist with preparation and staffing for occasional events

Student Ambassador Component (50%)

  • Complete a minimum of three interviews per semester with Macalester alumni to strengthen community connections

  • Participate in student advisory panels and focus groups for fundraising campaigns and philanthropy initiatives

  • Promote Macalester at campus events as needed (student panels, tours, etc.)

  • Commit to a minimum of 40 service hours per semester for the Ambassador portion of the role

  • Support the Macalester community while promoting the college's core values and diversity

 

Job Requirements

 

  • Work study is required for this position

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Google Workspace

  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities

  • Positive attitude about the Macalester experience

  • Reliable and dependable work ethic

  • Discretion in handling confidential information

  • Comfortable communicating with various Macalester community members

  • Junior or senior standing preferred

Sick and Safe Time

  • Student employees accrue sick and safe time at an accrual rate of one hour for every 30 hours paid. 
  • Sick and safe time is not paid out upon departure.
