The Lealtad-Suzuki Center for Social Justice (LSC) Program Assistants will work with their direct supervisor and their specific team to develop educational and community building programs, workshops, and events for the Macalester community. This particular role (Program Assistant - First-Gen events) will focus on programming around resources for first-generation to college students. All LSC student staff are expected to: Work in solidarity with individuals or communities holding marginalized social identities. Organize and facilitate LSC programs and events with a focus on identity development, social justice education, and community building. Continuously explore and reflect on one's own social identities and biases to better support and educate others. Attend and participate in weekly staff meetings and monthly departmental gatherings. Organize planning and coordination for assigned programs/events from start to finish (marketing, room reservations, email, assessment…) Assist with planning and coordination of departmental programs Help build positive relations within the LSC team and the larger Macalester community Ensure department resources are used appropriately for all operations Collect program proposals, presentations, pictures and assessment for the LSC archives Promote and encourage participation in LSC programs and events Other duties as assigned.
